Tracker

A few years ago I went through a really, really shitty breakup. To top off this really terrible experience, the ex got married 3 weeks after we broke up. How’s that for a punch in the face?

Well, the night I found out about this marriage, I went out to the bar totally depressed and ready to drink my sorrows away. When I got there I ran into the older brother of the ex. The guy was totally coked out of his brain and drunk on top of the coke. And of course, no matter how much I want to dodge him, he manages to find me and wants to ‘talk’ about what happened.

Needless to say, I was getting lower and lower in spirits instead of feeling better with friends and booze.

That is, until I ran into Tracker. That night I sat at a table talking and drinking with Tracker pretty much up until we were kicked out of the bar. He made me feel so much better about myself. He was a super fun person to hang out with. What he did for my spirit and my self esteem that night is a gift that I can never repay.

Tonight while I was walking up to the door for my group therapy I got a phone call from a mutual friend to let me know that Tracker had passed away. I still do not know what happened, other than that he was found in his apartment after friends had been unable to get a hold of him. I hope that he went peacefully as he brought so much joy to others when they needed it. I’ll miss you, man.

Update: He had a heart attack sometime around Monday.
